Press release from the issuing company
MOUNTAIN LAKES, NJ - Graphic Arts Advisors (GAA), a leading mergers and acquisitions advisory firm, is pleased to announce the successful acquisition of Westland Enterprises by Mt. Royal Printing, Baltimore, Maryland. Graphic Arts Advisors represented the buyer in the transaction, which closed on June 30, 2023, just two weeks after the parties reached agreement on a letter of intent.
This acquisition marks Mt. Royal’s second strategic transaction since 2021 as they continue to seek out prospective opportunities for M&A. The lead came after GAA conducted an outreach campaign within the region on behalf of Mt. Royal to spark interest with potential sellers to support their long-term strategy of growth through M&A. Jane Holden, President of Westland, received the inquiry and passed it along to her accountant who evaluated the opportunity and introduced GAA to Westland.
Mt. Royal is a fourth-generation commercial printing company led by Gary Cayce, President, and Liz Hare, Chief Operations Officer. They have a big shop capacity and a strong commitment to excellence while maintaining a small shop feel. The facility continues to grow its capabilities in print, packaging, graphics, direct mail, fulfillment, and promotional items.
“We are thrilled with our recent acquisition of Westland Enterprises. For five months, we worked diligently to complete this transaction, expanding our presence in the Washington, DC market and creating opportunities for growth,” shared Hare. “Once again, we partnered with Graphic Arts Advisors. With their industry-specific knowledge and a history of previous engagements with our company, we gained an edge in navigating the intricacies of this purchase.”
Graphic Arts Advisors’ Managing Director John Hyde, Special Situations, has worked with Mt. Royal over the past 15 years. “Like so many family businesses in the printing industry, it’s worth noting that both Mt. Royal and Westland experienced long-term success,” shared Hyde. “Mt. Royal has a bright future and continues to grow through M&A transactions. For Westland, the time was right to transition the business to a strategic buyer.”
