Inventor of coated synthetic paper meets recyclability protocols set by APR.

APR’s Design® Recognition Program credits Polyart coated for IML And Labels applications and Polyart IML uncoated for meeting strict protocols for PE rigids recyclability.

Boulogne. Polyart announces today it has earned 2 Critical Guidance Recognitions for recyclability from the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR), in 2 product categories. were each recognized by APR for solving packaging design challenges.

APR’s Critical Guidance Recognition is one of the most widely accepted measures for assessing recyclability in plastics packaging design worldwide and is presented to companies whose products solve well-established challenges in sustainable package design. The innovations are evaluated by a third-party, independent review committee and must meet the strict requirements of the Critical Guidance test protocol FPE-CG-01 under the APR Design® Recognition Program. The specific Polyart products receiving the Critical Guidance Recognition for meeting or exceeding the strict requirements outlined for PE rigid packaging include:

Uncoated Polyart for IML and pressure sensitive labelling applications; this newer range of product has a printable skin layer that can be printable by traditional printing technologies such as flexo, leterpress or offset, including Thermal transfer printing. This range of product is widely used in the In mould labelling process for blow molded containers, helping save liner and glue, and, by the nature of its polymer, HDPE, matches the polymer of most of the bottles that is also HDPE; the is then 100% monocomponent HDPE container that is easy to recyle, giving a good quality recyclate to be used again as PCR.

Coated Polyart for pressure sensitive and non-pressure sensitive labelling applications, An HDPE base film that receives a coating to enhance printability, aspect, and finishing of the label. This grade is widely used for self-adhesive labels in the chemical drum business, but also as a non laminated stock for durable tags.
